Lake Eyre Tour 4 Day vs 5 Day | Which Is Right? | Gekko Safari

We get this question on almost every enquiry: should I do the four day or the five day? Both cover the same headline country. The route runs from the Clare Valley up through the Flinders Ranges to Lake Eyre, then on to Coober Pedy and Woomera. The difference is mostly about pace.

Four days is a tighter trip. You see the highlights and you spend a good part of each day in the vehicle. Five days gives you more breathing room, with longer stops, a slower morning or two, and a bit more time to take photos without watching the clock. Neither is better, it depends on what you want.

A quick way to decide

  • Short on annual leave, or this is your first outback trip: the four day covers the essentials
  • You like to linger, or you travel with older relatives or kids: the five day is gentler
  • You’re a keen photographer: take the extra day
  • Not sure: ask us, and we’ll tell you honestly which fits

Both itineraries are on our tour pages, so check the current details there. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’ll talk through it.
